YMCA becomes the Y – first logo change in 52 years
The YMCA in Australia is excited to announce it’s officially become the Y, supported by a new national brand and new logo.
It’s the first time in 52 years that the legacy brand’s logo has changed – a milestone in a milestone year for the YMCA globally, which is celebrating its175th birthday.
On 23rd November 2019, the Governors of our 15 individual YMCAs around the nation came together at the 102nd AGM of the National Council of YMCAs of Australia to make clear our stand for all young people by becoming the Y, voting to adopt a new brand and new logo.
“The new evolutionary logo pays tribute to our heritage and history maintaining the critical triangle element of the Y’s ‘Body Mind Spirit’ Mission, but also signals our new direction with a logo (designed by one of our own young people!) that is fresh and modern,” said National CEO Melinda Crole.
“The new brand was created from the ground up, with hundreds of Y staff, volunteers and participants engaged in its development which started with agreeing that to be relevant today."
